After an unsuccessful attempt to land saboteurs in Kent, in preparation for Operation Sea Lion, the Germans tried again only this time up the River Cuckmere in East Sussex. Their only mistake was that they were spotted by a member of the local Auxiliary Unit (The Top Secret British Resistance movement). Over the next Three Days they were tracked by members of several Auxiliary units and on the third day their mission came to an end.
The book held my interest from beginning to end. I liked the way the author built his story around a very realistic but fictional plot. It has intrigue, suspense, violence and even discreet sex. What more could one ask? On a number of occasions I had to remind myself that it was fiction. Being Canadian, I was pleased that the author, Bob Looker, included Canadian troops in the story which is set in Southern England in the Autumn of 1940.
“I have to say I enjoyed reading ‘Three Days’ and found it fascinating. Not normally my kind of book but I was always keen to turn the page to see what was happening next”
