J.J. Maxwell is the pen name of Bob Looker so as to separate his children’s science fiction adventure stories from what he calls his grown up storied.
Bob Looker was born in Winchester many years ago. Having grown up in a very small village in the South Downs and at the age of 16 he joined the army and for the next 23 years travelled the world. In the years before he retired I worked for a large Government department and it was during this time he took up writing as a way of filling in his lunch hours.
Of the 5 books I have published under my name, 3 of them are associated with the British Resistance of WWII – Three Days, The Pheasant and more recently For the Love of Ann. My first book – The Virgins Wreath is about 18th century smugglers and customs men set in and around the village where I grew up. The last book – The Long Walk Home was taken from accounts that I read in a book given to me one Christmas about the WWII battles in Burma but I took it from the view of a 7 year old boy who, together with his mother and other families, had to flee from the advancing Japanese army into India, some 1,000 miles away.
Under my pen name of JJ Maxwell. I have written series of children science fiction adventure stories – Helen James & … The first 3 books were published in February 2016 and a further 3 books will be out in November 2016
