Alan Reynolds

Based in Yorkshire, Alan Reynolds’ interest in writing came later in life following a successful career in Banking.

Setting up his own management consultancy business in 2002, he has successfully delivered HR and Training projects across a wide range of businesses and organisations both in the UK and internationally. This experience has led to an interest in psychology and human behaviour through watching interactions and studying responses. Leadership has also featured strongly in his training portfolios and the knowledge gained has helped build the strong characters in all his books.

He took up writing as a hobby and completed his first novel, ‘Flying with Kites’, a harrowing and moving story based around the war in Kosovo, in just three weeks, in early 2010. It immediately attracted a cult following on the ‘Authonomy’ website with  one reviewer calling it ‘an important story that needs telling’.

His work subsequently attracted the interest of Fisher King Publishers who launched ‘Flying with Kites’ in September 2011, initially as an e-book but following initial demand in paperback. He has now completed seven novels which are detailed further on this site.

His second novel Taskers End was published in Dec 2012, his third, Breaking the Bank, April 2013, The Sixth Pillar in October 2013 and The Tinker in November 2014.. All have received acclaim from readers.

Flying with Kites was awarded a bronze award in the Wishing Shelf 2013 awards and The Sixth Pillar was #1 in the Military Download section on Amazon UK and was shortlisted for the 2015 Wishing Shelf Award.

Alan Reynolds has a growing following and is a regular at book clubs throughout Yorkshire and the north. He is available for book signings and talks about his work and writing in general.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Author Book

Alan Reynolds has blown the lid off the culture and practices in British Banking that led to the financial crisis of 2008. The book is set in a fictional Bank in 1997 and follows the exploits of Martin Brazier the manager of a branch in the North of England. We learn at first hand about the pressures exerted by the bullying Regional Director and his relentless drive to achieve targets. The rewards for success are lavish with bonuses and incentive trips; the punishment for failure, humiliation and shame. The resulting behaviours - hedonism, greed and dishonesty are played out in a fast moving thriller which will have readers on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds. Some in the banking community could well recognise themselves as this work of fiction comes daringly close to the truth.
